How Your Love of Technology Can Help You Win

How Your Love of Technology Can Help You Win

You love technology, don’t you?

You love that smartphone, and can’t wait for September 9th (new iPhone coming out . . . ).  You use it to find where you’re going, to call your mother, to text your wife/husband/child/friends, to check your email and to figure out what meetings you had first thing Monday morning after the weekend.

You love your tablet (and so do your kids, curse them).  You’ve sat and watched entire series of shows on Netflix because you can.  And it’s beautiful.

You’ve even abandoned your digital camera and just use your phone for photos AND video.

I bet a bunch of you were even following the Manning brothers lead yesterday by streaming the first weekend of the NFL on your mobile device, or even that big screen TV.

Did you use the remote control and guide on the TV or the search box feature on your device to find the game you wanted to watch or the email you needed to see?

What did you type into the search box? Did you have to try more than one word to find what you were looking for? Did you close your eyes and try hard to remember the name of the guy from your son’s baseball team that might have emailed you with the info you need so you could just find that one flippin’ email? Did you think — how hard can this be?

If you’ve done any of those things, you’ve done eDiscovery.  Trying to use the tools you have to find the data you want without looking at everything there.

It’s that simple.  The only difference is that you need different, slightly more sophisticated tools to handle more data than what you have on your phone.

See?

Now, answer me this, and we’ll talk about it next time — would you ask your lit tech support to find the email from your son’s baseball coach on your phone?  You’d have to be involved, wouldn’t you?  To tell him what he needs to look for and see what he finds?

eDiscovery is the same.

Do better discovery.
